History of Institutions
The Faculty of Education, Mahasarakham University, which is regarded as a source of learning and a gateway to wisdom, traces its origins back to the establishment of the College of Education on March 27, 1968. The College of Education was founded with the objective of producing high-quality teachers to serve in various fields, shaping educators primarily in the northeastern and other regions of Thailand. Later, it was elevated to become the Mahasarakham campus of Srinakharinwirot University on June 29, 1942.
Over time, the Mahasarakham campus of Srinakharinwirot University experienced growth and advancements in all aspects. Eventually, it gained independent status and was renamed 'Mahasarakham University' (MSU) on December 9, 1994. As part of this transformation, the Faculty of Education underwent a comprehensive upgrade, becoming the inaugural faculty within MSU. The Faculty of Education is led by the Dean at the helm of the organization. The hierarchy of positions is arranged as follows:
- Assistant Professor Pissamai Sri-Amphai 1994 – 1999
- Assistant Professor Prasit Nimjinda 1999 – 2002
- Associate Professor Prasart Isarapreeda 2002 – 2006
- Associate Professor Prawit Erawan 2006 – 2014
- Associate Professor Pacharawir Chansirisira 2014 – 2023
- Associate Professor Chowwait Chookhampaeng 2023 – Present
The faculty has consistently fulfilled its mission of producing competent teachers and educators in diverse fields to contribute to the advancement of education at both local and national levels. Beyond providing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, the faculty places a strong emphasis on research for educational development and extends its academic services to various local communities and work units. From its inception to the present day, the Faculty of Education has undergone continuous development and growth.
